Jun 11th

The NEC USB 3.0 controller is due to hit the streets this month, and already Sarah Sharp (the, um, “Geekess”) has been able to crank out a Linux driver for the device. iTunes 8.2 Breaks Jailbreaking!!
Jun 1st
iTunes 8.2 adds support to iPhone OS 3.0 which is expected to be released this summer.
But MuscleNerd one of the members of the iPhone Dev team (iPhone Hacks) is warning users to avoid installing iTunes 8.2 as it breaks jailbreaking.
MuscleNerd tweeted:
Today’s iTunes 8.2 update changes the way your computer talks to the device. This affects things like QuickPwn and PwnageTool when they try to identify what’s connected. Also, ssh over usb breaks due to same reasons. Fixes are in the works but for now avoid 8.2.
He doesn’t think Apple did this intentionally and is warning users who would like to jailbreak their iPhone to avoid upgrading to iTunes 8.2 until Apple provides a fix.
In case, you have upgraded to iTunes 8.2, he has also provided instructions here to fully uninstall iTunes 8.2 so that you can go back to an older version of iTunes which can be downloaded using this link and Mac version of iTunes 8.1.1 can be downloaded using this link (until it is available).
Update:
He is also reporting that the changed protocol can be dealt with by making changes to their tools. So you might either need to wait for Apple to provide a fix or Dev Team to provide new versions of their tools.
Install Applications on the iPhone
May 7th
You will need to download iBrickr software
Extract the files to a folder on your computer.
Open the folder and Run the iBrickr.exe.
You will then click “free my phone”…then it will prompt you to download the firmware from iTunes.
Disconnect your phone before the download is complete or it will automatically erase your phone information.
When it is done extracting the iPhone information after the download completes… plug your iPhone back into the computer and click on the iBrickr check again box.
You will then need to restart your iPhone, when you turn it back on and see the grey apple logo. Press and hold both the home button and the power buttons until a yellow triangle appears.
You will then have iTunes messages pop up… just click through them and ignore what they say. The iBrickr software will then do a couple last minutes things and when it is complete it will show a “Success Button”. You will then be able to install applications to your iPhone and iPod Touch.
This tutorial was made using the iBrickr install steps and the video done by The Bleeding Edge.
Disclaimer: You may break your iPhone or iPod Touch doing this process. This is not supported by apple and by using these steps you know that you are risking your iPod.
