Install any editions of Windows 7 from a single DVD

All DVD s of Windows 7 contains all editions of it and its is possible to install any edition with a single DVD. The selection of OS include Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. Actually this ability is just restricted by a small single configuration file called ei.cfg ( may be absent in modded editions). The file is located inside the sources folder in the Windows 7 DVD, or if you are using modded DVD s try searching for a file that has the following content :
[EditionID]
Ultimate
[Channel]
Retail
[VL]
0
When ei.cgf is not present the windows setup will ask for selecting the edition to install. So all you hav to do is either delete the file or edit it ( not recommended ). Follow the steps below to delete the configuration file from your Windows 7 DVD :
- Open the image file of your Windows 7 DVD with any image utilities such as Power ISO, Ultra ISO etc.
- Locate ei.cfg in the image file ( */sources/*)
- Delete it
- Burn the new image to a DVD or save as a new image file.
All done. Now your Windows 7 DVD has the power of 5 !! (Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate.)
